For this project my group was assigned a music genre and 3 songs, and had to create a marketing campaign for a new music artist/group. So far, we have created the band name, the band members, logo, music video storyboard, their inspiration as a band, branding and their internet presence and social media.
We got the genre alternative and picked the song '15 step by Radiohead' as the bands first release. We made the music video that we are going to film later this week, a storytelling style with the narrative following the lyrics of the song.
The name of the band is 'Flicker and Fade' which we picked because it's meant to represent the idea of the fleeting moments in life. The logo was made inspired by indie bands in the early 2000s
We are planning to use the logo of the band as inspiration to further develop merchandise for the band like physical music including vinyls, cds, and cassettes, and apparel.
We have an overall idea of what the band represents and their ideologies, for example, they aren't afraid to speak their mind or get controversial with their fans, in terms of politics and the state of the world, which is derived from other bands like rage against the machine who were known for being very vocal about their beliefs. They have a liberal leaning ideology and make it abundantly clear during interactions with fans during concerts and through social media.
Their live shows take place in small and iconic venues for example, Tower Theater, Philadelphia which David Bowie and Thin Lizzy had recorded concert albums on the stage, and the Rolling Stones and Oasis had performed there.
This week my group will be filming the music video and hopefully will have it edited by the end of the week. We plan on getting the powerpoint done in the next couple of days so we can be organized. I am really excited in how the project is going and am happy with how it is turning out so far!
